The last book I read was

" Les mémoires imaginaires d'Adrienne de la Fayette "

written by Sabine Renault-Sabloniere. This is an imaginery story based on real historical facts.It relates the life of Adrienne and Gilbret de la Fayette's life. They got married when they where 16 and 14 years old. It was an arranged mariage because at that time people didn't get married for love.

Gilbert de la Fayette was a glorious soldier and went to war very young. He set off to america to help the insurgent in the Independance war. He was a very active politician and friend with Voltaire and many others. But his wife Adrienne was very lonely. Ha was gone most of the time and she sometimes stayed more than 2 years without seeing him, even in France, he would prefer to stay in Versailles. When their first baby died, Henriette, he was in America and couldn't come back because the travel back take more than 3 weeks on a boat. On top of everithing Lafayette wasn't a very faithful husband. Nevertheless she always stayed devoted to him although he had many mistresses. The revolution was very hard on the family because the aristochrates were dispossessed of they lands and propreties.

I really enjoyed that book the details of Lafayette's life and the revolution are very precised but still one reads this book like a novel.
